Want to create handmade turtles sweets but don’t have time to arrange them into a turtle shape? Then try my 3 ingredient quick homemade turtles with Kraft caramels in a muffin tray (affiliate link)!
Turtles are my favorite animals.
I mean, I like making my own turtle candy. I’m not referring to turtles as an animal. I do, however, like turtles as an animal. But we’re not going to make any small marine creatures in this article.
Turtles candies are constructed of nuts, caramel, and chocolate and are organized in the form of a turtle.
They’re tasty and gorgeous, but arranging all of the pecan halves and getting everything in the correct place sometimes seems like a lot of effort.

If you’d rather put something in a muffin pan (aff link) while you do something else (useful or otherwise, like binge-watching a new TV program), this is the recipe for you.
To be honest, it’s a bit more complicated than that, but not significantly so!

- Caramels Finish the day with a bag of Kraft caramels. This time, we’re not creating homemade caramel sauce.
- Wafers, chopped chocolate, or chocolate chips are all options. Chocolate You may use either chocolate candy melts or white chocolate candy melts.
How to make homemade turtles candy cups
- Preheat the oven to 300°F and line a muffin tray with cupcake liners (aff link).
- Put pecan pieces in an equal layer on the bottom of each muffin cup, making sure they’re all touching and covering the bottom.
- Put an unwrapped caramel square in the middle of the pecans.
- Pro tip: Make sure there is a bottom-up pecan half in the centre that you can set the caramel square on to keep it up evenly.
- Bake the muffin tray (affiliate link) for 10 minutes.
- While it’s baking, melt your chocolate in a small pot in the microwave (in a microwave-safe dish) until smooth. Stir regularly over low heat until slightly melted and smooth if using a saucepan. Microwave in 15-20 second intervals, stirring after each, until just melted and smooth.
- As soon as the muffin tray (aff link) comes out of the oven, coat the back of a spoon or silicone spatula with nonstick spray and delicately push the top of the caramel into the pecans.
- Pour approximately 1 tablespoon of chocolate over each cluster, spreading it with the back of a measuring spoon.
- If desired, garnish with a sprinkling of flake salt or a pecan half. Let to thoroughly cool and set before serving. Enjoy!
