Nothing beats a cold drink on a hot summer day! On a hot summer day, nothing beats a fruity, frozen drink made completely by someone else as you relax next to a pool and hardly move a muscle.

But since this frozen strawberry margarita requires just a few ingredients and a few minutes of your time, I believe we can make an exception.

What is the difference between a margarita and a frozen margarita?

This may seem to be a ridiculous question, but it is not!

The ingredients for a typical margarita are shaken in a cocktail shaker and served on the rocks (aka: in a glass with ice cubes).

To make a frozen margarita, combine the ingredients and ice cubes in a blender (aff link) to get an icy, frosty beverage.

What are the ingredients for a frozen strawberry margarita?

You’ll need the following ingredients for my recipe (which is a longstanding favorite that I seldom depart from):

  • or sugar to rim your glasses with a slice of lime and margarita salt
  • Strawberries, frozen
  • Cubes of ice
  • Tequila
  • Cointreau (or similar orange liqueur) (or another orange liqueur)
  • Juice of lime

Prep your garnish and your glasses

Each strawberry and lime wedge should be cut at an angle to fit neatly on the edge of your glasses.

or even sugar. Fill a small plate with margarita salt or sugar (or both), then wipe a lime wedge along the rims of your serving glasses to wet the edges. Now, dip the glasses’ rims in the salt and serve.

What can I use instead of Cointreau?

If you don’t have any Cointreau, you may use any of the following instead:

  • The Triple Sec
  • The Grand Marnier
  • Curacao Orange

You may also use orange juice instead, but it won’t produce as much concentrated taste.

What is the difference between a strawberry margarita and a strawberry daiquiri?

A strawberry margarita is made using tequila, but a strawberry daquiri is made with rum.

If you want to make this into a daiquiri, just switch those two ingredients and leave out the orange liqueur. Simple as that!

Helpful tips for making frozen margaritas

  1. Make sure all of your components are as cold as possible. Refrigerate the tequila, Cointreau, lime juice, and serving glasses!
  2. Prepare your spectacles. It makes no difference whether you use standard margarita glasses or a random pint glass. Rub the rim of the glass with a lime slice before dipping it in margarita salt or sugar (or both!). The lime juice aids in the adhesion of everything to the edges!
  3. Use cubed ice rather than crushed ice since crushed ice melts faster.
  4. Use the crush ice setting on your blender (aff link) initially, then modify for a smooth mix.

Can I make frozen margaritas ahead of time?

Absolutely! After you’ve created the mixture, store it in a freezer-safe container in the freezer until you’re ready to use it.

The alcohol will keep it from fully freezing, and you can just put it back in the blender (aff link) and pulse for a few seconds before serving to refresh it.

FAQs

How do you make a frozen margarita not watery?

Make use of a thick sweetener.

Sweeten with honey or agave nectar if you’re concerned about producing a watery frozen margarita. Any of these natural sweeteners will thicken the texture of your frozen beverages.

What is the difference between a margarita and a frozen margarita?

Little mixed ice beads adorn frozen margaritas. This provides a frozen margarita a texture that an on-the-rocks margarita does not have. The properly dispersed ice ensures that the whole margarita is ice cold. The little beads, on the other hand, cause the ice to breakdown quicker, melting your drink faster.

What kind of tequila is best for strawberry margaritas?

Use an excellent blanco (or silver) tequila for the greatest strawberry margarita. Since the strawberries have such a powerful taste, it doesn’t have to be your finest; budget-friendly tequilas can suffice. When strawberries are in season, use fresh fruit and keep any excess berries for garnishes.

How to make a frozen margarita with Jose Cuervo mix?

Blend ice, José Cuervo® Especial®, fresh lime juice, orange liqueur, and agave syrup in a blender. Blend. Before pouring in the chilled margarita, salt the rim. Garnish the glass with a slice of lime and salt.

What can I use instead of lime juice in margarita?

Although nothing can fully replace a fresh lime in a margarita, there are plenty of passable replacements depending on what you’re creating. Lemon juice, white wine, or tamarind may be used in lieu of lime juice, while lime zest can be substituted with orange zest or lime oil.

Why does my margarita taste watery?

“If you don’t add enough sugar to a frozen drink, it might turn as watery,” explains Jessica Stewart, bar manager at Fort Oak in San Diego. Agave nectar, which has a thicker viscosity than simple syrup, prevents this from happening and also helps balance the overall character of the drink.

What is the best substitute for triple sec in margarita?

Cointreau has a strong orange scent taste that is nicely balanced between bitter and sweet, while Triple Sec has a harsher flavor. Cointreau is an excellent Triple Sec replacement for margaritas and other cocktails.

Why do you need triple sec for margaritas?

Triple sec, also known as curaçao, is a kind of orange liqueur that delivers fruity tastes as well as sweet and bitter undertones — all of which are required for a good Margarita.

Can one frozen margarita get you drunk?

Absolutely, a glass of Margarita will get you intoxicated. Since it includes more alcohol, two 4oz pre-made Margaritas on the market might get you intoxicated in approximately an hour. It depends on how many drinks you’ve had, the amount of alcohol ingested, your tolerance to alcohol, and if you drank it on an empty stomach.

Is Jose Cuervo good in margaritas?

The Cuervo version smelled good and reminded one taster of a typical five-dollar house margarita from a Mexican restaurant. The Cuervo, on the other hand, left a disagreeable greasy feel in the mouth, making it stand out from the 100% agave choices. To obtain the nice stuff, spend a few bucks extra each drink.
