Nestl chocolate crunch bars with a dark chocolate, two-ingredient handmade bark! Chocolate and Rice Krispies combine to form a simple puffed rice chocolate bar recipe that requires no wrappers or other ingredients.
I like dark chocolate. I always opt for the dark chocolate no matter what I’m preparing. Bedark unsweetened, bittersweet, 60%+ cacao.
But guess what’s difficult to come by? NestlCrunch Bars in dark chocolate.
I used to have a candy dish (really, it’s a whale with sweets pushed in his face), and I once bought a mixed bag of candy to throw in there. For a brief moment, I mistook it for dark chocolate tiny Crunch Bars, but it was only seasonal wrapping that fooled me.
Sigh.
This copycat recipe is very simple, can be tweaked to use your preferred chocolate, and is free of the unknowns that come with mass-produced sweets.
You don’t have to be concerned about it including nuts, soy, or dinosaur bones.

Ingredients for chocolate crunch bars
So, I went home and decided to create them myself. I thought I needed Rice Krispies and dark chocolate, but then I discovered that was all I needed.
Yet I was certain that I was missing a vital component since it couldn’t be so easy. So I tried it, and guess what? IT’S THAT EASY.
How to make chocolate crunch bars
- Step 1: Melt chocolate.
- Step 2: Add Rice Krispies and stir to combine.
- Step 3: Let it set and break it into pieces.
That’s all there is to it, my friends.
Do I have to use dark chocolate?
Absolutely not! It is just my own choice.
The beautiful thing about this being such a simple recipe is that you can change the kind of chocolate and the outcome will be the same, only with a different amount of sweetness. You might try:
- Dark chocolate
- Semisweet chocolate
- Milk chocolate
- White chocolate
Can I make white chocolate crunch bars?
Definitely! But, if you want to create white chocolate crunch bars, keep in mind that you must be particularly cautious while melting the white chocolate to avoid overheating it since it is more fussy than other forms of chocolate.
How to cut the bars
I like my homemade crunch bars in bark shape since it is simpler than precisely cutting them into even pieces. It’s quicker and adds that additional handmade touch that I like.
You may just break them up with your hands or a big knife, or you can use a longer knife (or a rolling pizza cutter (aff link)) to cut them into more evenly-sized pieces.
Now go make these and give them to your pals as a little treat! Make new acquaintances by handing them out to random individuals on the street who will gladly take sweets from strangers. On second thinking, maybe only the first.
